Driving Sustainability: A Tailored Approach for Taggr
In a world where sustainability is no longer a luxury but a necessity, businesses across the globe are stepping up to integrate eco-friendly practices into their core operations. Taggr, a forward-thinking Swedish startup specializing in sensor tags, is leading by example. Recognized for their innovative solutions that monitor everything from temperature to GPS locations, Taggr sought to deepen their commitment to sustainability; Not just in their products, but throughout their entire organization.
Partnering with Neuromagic, Taggr embarked on a transformative journey with a two-day Materiality Analysis Workshop aimed at pinpointing key sustainability issues relevant to their operations. This intensive workshop, guided by GRI-certified specialists, was designed to not only identify but also prioritize the sustainability challenges and opportunities that Taggr faced. By the end of the collaboration, Taggr was equipped with a comprehensive strategy, paving the way for impactful, sustainable business practices that resonate throughout their value chain.
Taggr is an innovative Swedish company specializing in sensor tags - tiny, smart devices that can monitor everything from temperature to GPS locations on machinery. Taggr’s tech is a game-changer for equipment rental companies, offering insights into the actual use of their gear, cutting down unnecessary costs, and stepping up sustainability.
Challenges
Taggr is strongly driven to empower customers to embrace sustainability through their product, while also aspiring to evolve into a more sustainable organization themselves. However, they were uncertain about how to initiate their sustainability journey, and what indicators they should use to track their progress towards becoming more sustainable.
Essentially, Taggr approached us with a dual challenge:
How could they assist their clients in being more sustainable?
How could they become more sustainable themselves?
They wanted results that were tailored, meaningful, and impactful.
Detailed Process
We tackled Taggr’s challenges with a two-day Materiality Analysis Workshop, followed by a research report filled with tailored recommendations and reference materials.
2-Day Materiality Workshop guided by a GRI certified specialist
Pre-workshop: To prepare, we held several pre-meetings to develop a deeper understanding of the Taggr product and value chain.
Workshop Day 1: On Day 1, we held a short educational session to deepen understanding of materiality concepts, reviewed Taggr’s unique context, and collaboratively brainstormed impacts that Taggr has or could have on the environment, economy, and people throughout every part of their value chain.
Workshop Day 2: On Day 2, we used a globally recognised GRI framework to assess the impacts identified on Day 1, resulting in a clear picture of which impacts were likely material to Taggr.
Research & Final Report
After the workshop, we took the identified material topics, merged them where we saw fit while referencing global standards, and designed a research-based strategy aligned with Taggr’s unique context and capabilities. An interim check-in ensured we were in lockstep with their team before finalizing our recommendations.
Outcome
We were able to identify impacts and risks across the Taggr value chains and deliver a customized report detailing recommendations. Understanding the size and resources of Taggr as a startup, we were able to create a foundation that was feasible and optimally effective in its current state.
Outcomes included:
A report including: customized recommendations for acting on material topics, KPIs (data points) to track, and evidence of business and sustainability impact related to each topic
A library of key resources for learning about sustainability
Deeper understanding of opportunities and risks related to sustainability along the entire value chain
Increased employee awareness of and engagement with sustainability issues
*Please note that the outcomes of the Materiality Identification Workshop will vary from client to client, as they are tailored to the background and context of the company.
Client’s voice
By investing in this workshop, we're striving to streamline our efforts for optimal impact. Without clear direction, we risk overcomplicating and falling short. Partnering with Neuromagic offers crucial guidance, enabling us to allocate resources effectively. As part of our mission to accelerate earth’s transition to net zero, Taggr must reflect on how our own production chain and business practices impacts the world before we can help others make a difference. Thank you Neuromagic Sustainability Transformation Group for a fascinating and enlightening two-day materiality workshop, and additional thanks to Peter Lindfors at SustainLab for bringing us together!
